NASA prepares to fly probe into Sun's scorching atmosphere

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla: NASA is preparing to send a probe closer to the Sun than any other spacecraft has ventured, enduring wicked heat while zooming through the solar corona to study this outermost part of the stellar atmosphere that gives rise to the solar wind. The Parker Solar Probe, a robotic spacecraft the size of a small car, is slated to launch from Cape Canaveral in Florida, with Aug. 6 targeted as the launch date for the planned seven-year mission. It is set to fly into the Sun’s corona within 3.8 million miles (6.1 million km) from the solar surface, seven times closer than any other spacecraft. “To send a probe where you haven’t been before is ambitious. While laptops may have started as a business tool, their role in education is only now being fully explored—both in Third World countries with limited access to formal education and Westernized education systems. They are being used to support overburdened school districts with limited teaching resources; enhance critical thinking and academic success; and strengthen student and parental participation in the learning process. A recent study in the Journal of Technology, Learning, and Assessment found students in one-to-one computer settings like any public school outperformed peers in traditional classrooms. In a single year, 20 percent of public school students increased their reading skills by two grade levels. Google pushes artificial intelligence for upgraded news app

For its updated news application, Google is doubling down on the use of artificial intelligence as part of an effort to weed our disinformation and help users get viewpoints beyond their own "filter bubble." Google chief Sundar Pichai, who unveiled the updated Google News earlier this month, said the app now "surfaces the news you care about from trusted sources while still giving you a full range of perspectives on events." It marks Google´s latest effort to be at the center of online news and includes a new push to help publishers get paid subscribers through the tech giant´s platform. According to product chief Trystan Upstill, the news app "uses the best of artificial intelligence to find the best of human intelligence -- the great reporting done by journalists around the globe."
