WhatsApp rolls out new group chat features




Messaging service WhatsApp rolled out new group-chat features on Tuesday, including more controls for administrators as well as regular group members.


Users can now leave a group permanently to avoid being repeatedly added back after they have left, Facebook Inc-owned WhatsApp said in a blog post.

Administrators can no longer be removed from a group they created and users can now quickly locate messages that mention them in a group conversation.

Groups on WhatsApp have taken a central role in the messaging service that has more than 1 billion users, helping connect people with similar interests across the globe.

Google Maps newly-launched feature helps reduce carbon emissions in cities

Google Maps has rolled out a new feature that now enables the users to access the carbon footprint of all of a city’s buildings – and the carbon print of all the car trips, bus and subway rides. Named ‘The Environmental Insights Explorer’, an online tool introduced on Monday, is designed to help cities identify and come up with a plan to reduce emissions, looking at their carbon footprint. By using this new feature, more than 9000 cities can actually benefit, who have initiated projects to cut emissions after signing the Paris Agreement. Facebook, Instagram to introduce time-management tools

                                     Paris -Do you worry that you, or your children, spend too much time on social media? Facebook and Instagram on Wednesday said they want to help you take control. In a statement, the social media giants -- which are both owned by Facebook -- announced "new tools to help people manage their time" spent on the platforms. Among the tools are a way to limit notifications, and a dashboard that allows users to keep track of how much time they have spent on the platforms. "We want the time people spend on Instagram and Facebook to be intentional, positive and inspiring," the statement said.
